FAQ

Questions about working with a professional organizer?

It’s completely normal to have questions before inviting someone into your home or making decisions about your belongings. Here are some of the most common questions Oceanside Organizers receives about downsizing, organizing, privacy and getting started.

No. You will never be forced to get rid of anything. Only you can decide how important, useful or meaningful an item is. The decision is always yours.

Your privacy and confidentiality are very important. As a member of Professional Organizers in Canada, Janet follows its Code of Conduct and Ethics and maintains high standards of confidentiality, professionalism and objectivity.

Not at all. You do not need to clean or tidy before Janet arrives. Oceanside Organizers is there to help you find practical solutions, not to judge your home or your belongings. Starting with your space as it really is can actually make it easier to understand what is and isn’t working for you.

You don’t have to make every decision right away. Sometimes setting an item aside or moving it to a different space can give you a new perspective. A “Not Sure Yet” box or category can also give you time to decide without pressure.

Downsizing can feel overwhelming when everything seems important at once. Janet can help break the process into manageable steps, sort belongings, identify what you want to keep, and help you decide what may be sold, donated or passed along — all at a pace that works for you.
